Alexander J. Perrin  ·  Chicago  ·  Operator, author, builder, systems thinker

I turn unseen systems into operating leverage.

My work begins with one question: what is really driving the outcome? In companies, I answer it by building growth organizations, commercializing complex technology, and turning uncertainty into operating plans. In RADIX, my book about the hidden forces that redirect human effort, I turn the same question inward. The method is constant: get inside the problem, reveal its logic, and build the structure that moves it forward.

I lead where markets,
software, and human
behavior meet.

My work sits between growth, product, market education, and executive translation: the places where technical possibility has to become a plan, a team, a narrative, and a measurable commercial outcome.

The Pattern

Three systems
One method

Across every endeavor, the pursuit has been the same: understand what is shaping behavior, make the stakes clear, and build a practical path to growth.

Media & Technology
Employment-led experience

Attention is designed, bought, measured, and defended.

Advertising was my first language for behavior. The work became operational: pricing, measurement, service design, product translation, and GTM structures that help large teams turn attention into accountable business outcomes. The proof lives in the operating record: Rocket Fuel, Adelphic / Viant, and The Trade Desk.

The breach begins long before the headline.

Patient Protect came from a pattern we could see up close: independent practices were underprepared for HIPAA and security obligations, while patient information carried the consequences. The work is simple in intent: make the risk visible before a breach, disclosure, or letter no practice wants to send.

The systems we don't see still extract from us.

RADIX began as a private question: why does effort so rarely follow the path we intend for it? The answer became a language for the structures that redirect motivation and attention. The work became a book, essays, an assessment, a deck, and a companion app.

Executive
Leverage

Leadership, growth,
AI, operating model

I create the most value where growth, marketing, revenue strategy, AI commercialization, and operating design overlap - work too commercial for pure strategy, too strategic for pure sales, and too consequential to live cleanly inside one department.

  • Step into a CGO / CMO / CRO / COO-shaped role where growth, narrative, operating model, and AI strategy need to move together.
  • Reposition or commercialize a complex technology product whose story, buyer path, and GTM motion are not yet aligned.
  • Build or rebuild a growth organization, advisory function, or client-service model around a sharper commercial thesis.
  • Give a founder, CEO, or board a senior commercial operator who can translate between market pressure, product reality, and team execution.

Executive role or advisory

Executive ownership across growth strategy, market narrative, commercial operations, team design, and the operating cadence required to turn strategy into pipeline, adoption, and revenue.

A company-level growth system with clear ownership, language, metrics, and an executive who can carry it across functions.

Positioning, narrative, and go-to-market for a company bringing AI to market - or repositioning one whose story, product proof, and buyer education have not caught up to the technology.

A buyer narrative, GTM plan, and executive communication frame the team can defend inside and outside the company.

Rebuild a marketing, growth, or client-service function around the way the company actually needs to operate now: team, measurement architecture, process, AI leverage, and executive rhythm.

Best-fit context

Executive work where growth, marketing, revenue strategy, AI commercialization, and operating design have to move as one system.

The title can vary with the company: Chief Growth Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Revenue Officer, Chief Operating Officer, GM, or founder-side operating partner. The right fit puts commercial accountability, market narrative, team design, and operating change in the same room.

The convergence

All of this converges into what I stand for.

I help companies see systems differently, then turn that perspective into strategy, structure, and growth.

That is the work I intend to carry forward: entering situations where growth, technology, and organization no longer align; identifying the constraint early; and building the operating model that makes the next stage possible.

2014 · Market foresight
Executive publication

In 2014, I conceived the blueprint. For 12 years, I've built it from the inside.

I conceived and designed The Marketing Activation Platform before CDPs, journey orchestration, and AI-driven activation became standard category language. The core model was mine: unify fragmented data, apply machine intelligence to business outcomes, and turn each activation into new knowledge. The writing was developed collaboratively; I created the strategic framework, information architecture, original illustrations, and editorial system. Across Rocket Fuel, Viant, and The Trade Desk, I spent the next 12 years building and commercializing parts of that model while running teams, shaping products and go-to-market work, advising enterprise marketers, and carrying revenue expectations. Today, much of that architecture is standard. My role across those companies was to help make it real and make it produce revenue.

2026 · Future direction

Where the thesis goes next.

In 2014, The Marketing Activation Platform anticipated capabilities that now define modern marketing technology: unified customer data, predictive modeling, cross-channel activation, real-time decisioning, and continuous optimization.

It also reflected the optimism of its era: the assumption that more data and greater automation would naturally produce better decisions.

That assumption no longer holds.

The next challenge is not simply more automation. It is building technology that can exercise judgment responsibly: working within privacy and governance requirements, distinguishing causation from correlation, explaining its decisions, recognizing incomplete evidence, and escalating consequential choices to people.

Automation improves decisions only when the objective is clear, the evidence is sound, the constraints are explicit, and the cost of being wrong is understood.

That is where I want to take this work next: from automated marketing execution to accountable decision infrastructure - technology that can act, explain, measure, and learn while remaining governed by human judgment.
